Snowshoe Hike

A week or so ago we had one of those days that is just about perfect. Now, here in Vermont, we get a lot of those days, but on this particular day, Austin and I had been studying chemistry all morning, and were feeling just about done in. The rest of the family was busy, but the two of us were free, so on a sudden whim we grabbed our snowshoes and headed out for a hike up Stowe Pinnacle - a rocky knob in the Hunger Mountain ridge, overlooking Mt. Mansfield, Camel's Hump, and Stowe Village.

Strapping in. Our trusty Prius got us up to the trailhead no problem.

 Ready to go!

Amazing views from the trail... (Stowe is right about in the middle of the valley, with Mt. Mansfield as the highest point on the horizon)

 Getting close

Summit!

As always, it was an amazing hike, with breathtaking views of the Green Mountains and beyond. Augs and I do a lot together, and I can't think of a better way to spend an afternoon than hiking a winding Vermont trail with him . . . unless it's biking the Perry Hill trails, running cross-country together, or working on a project like our homemade recumbent bicycle . . .
