Thursday was Emily's 21st birthday!
Since we're here in Texas for a few short weeks of ministry and spiritual refreshment, we celebrated this special day with some family friends we have known for years and years. It was a blast. Each of our families started singing a couple of years ago, so now whenever we get together, we always enjoy sharing our newest songs and singing the favorites again.
You can read more over on Emily's blog.
There are so many things I love about our dear sister, Ems. Ever since I can remember, way back when we lived in California, we've been absolutely the best of friends, and we can never spend enough time with each other. 21 years have flown by, and it seems like just yesterday we were playing together, making mud pies, holding kittens and puppies, planting spring gardens, and roaming the orchards near our home as famous explorers of the West.
Ten years later, we still love puppies and gardens, and though we still make a mud pie now and then, we're encouraging each other as we spend time preparing for the road ahead. Ems is always so supportive of us guys as our studies take much of the day, and she loves talking with us about what we're doing. A few years ago, she studied for and became a certified Paralegal, so she can now work with and talk with us in depth in our legal practice.
Ems has always also had a love for medicine, especially natural remedies and pregnancy/baby related issues. Earlier this winter she started learning about herbs and essential oils, and is now getting to be quite an expert!
Ems, thank you so much for the irreplaceable part of our family you are. Thank you for the way you make us all laugh, your strength and support through thick and thin, your long, caring talks with us, your amazing creativity, your to-die-for cooking, your love of nature, of all animals, of wild and windy places, of a good cup of coffee on a rainy morning. And especially for your undying loyalty to family, unshakable faith in God, and firm determination to make your life count for eternity. I love you to the moon and back!
