A new chapter

After 21 days, 800 pages, 16 quizzes, 3 midterms, and 1 final, I am finally finished with biochemistry, which marks the end of my premed sciences and the start of a new study chapter! It was quite a feeling to submit my last exam for the University of New England this week.

And now it's on to the MCAT. The clock is ticking at just under 100 days to go, and I'm already deep into the 2,700 pages of material I have to refresh myself on, covering biology, chemistry, organic chemistry, biochemistry, statistics/research, psychology, analytical reasoning and writing, and behavioral sciences.

Needless to say, life has consisted primarily of studies over the past two weeks - Sundays and our daily exercise outing have provided good diversions. Winter still has a strong grip on Vermont, but Spring is in the air, and it seems like almost everyday we can see the snow getting thinner - the dinner table is abuzz with talk of summer hikes, gardens, bike rides, trips South, grills and picnics, and everything else the warm weather brings.

Curtis' and my clock project was put on hold as I had to build first a drill press to get accurate holes, and then a jig for the router so we can make custom dowels and pins to hold it all together. The latter jig is still only in my head, and I got sidetracked building some bike racks for the coming riding season, so it's high time to get working on it again!

Other things that have happened since my last post . . . I discovered a copycat recipe for Olive Garden breadsticks, which, paired with Ems' copycat Olive Garden lasagna, are quite tasty, if I may say so myself! On the healthy side, I tried a mango-banana-strawberry smoothie, and later, an ultimate chocolate milkshake (Note: the milkshake is in the healthy category because, after all, milk comes from grass, and chocolate comes from cocoa trees, so it's basically blended salad greens ;)

That's it for the update, now I'm off to write a letter or two, change a bike tire, and listen to a message by John Piper.

  1. LOVE your thoughts on chocolate! I couldn't agree more.:) In truth, I think it is the most delightful antioxidant created! Such a powerful health elixer!

    cheers from TN,
